2023 Demo Day Finalist: Ephinium: Plane of the Lost Souls

Game Summary:

Ephinium is the next best adventure platformer game in which an anonymous dreamer is introduced to a place independent of the dreaming and the waking worlds. This place is Ephinium: the plane of lost souls. Through the power of music, she must confront the virus-like emotions of animals affected by human destruction to guide them to the after life.

• L/R Arrow Keys - Move
• Up Arrow Key - Jump
• Up Arrow Key (x2) - Double Jump
• Down Arrow Key - Play violin / kill enemies

  • Level 1 (Harry the Otter) - Collect Bottles
  • Level 2 (Cetus the Shark) - Collect Trash
  • Level 3 (Nanuq the Bear) - Spawn new earth

Game Story:

Our player is anonymous, but she has a background story. She can't control her emotions and plays the violin to cope with it. One day, when she goes to bed, she is transported to Ephinium, the plane between the Dreaming and Waking world. She needs to help the lost souls to finally be content with their life on earth.

Harry the Otter - An oil spill took Harry's habitat and life.

Fact: A 1989 oil spill in Alaska killed around 3,000 otters along the west coast - half of their population.

Cetus the Shark - Poachers killed Cetus and his family.

Fact: Annually, 100m sharks are killed from shark finning, while there are less than 50 shark attacks on humans.

Nanuq the Bear - Smoke from wildfires suffocated Nanuq and her cubs.

Fact: Wildfires caused by  cigarettes and campfires have obliterated over 2 million acres alone, leaving bearshomeless and confused.

Our brain(storming) .. and a little Hollow Knight.
