Game Story:

After the death of her long-term girlfriend, Linh–a 20 year old college student–feels like her life is on standstill. She is lost and stuck, and does not know how to live. On the way home from her girlfriend’s grave, she encounters a mysterious person who introduces themself as a “Dreamweaver”, an entity that can delve into a person’s dreams and help save them from despair. They offer Linh a chance to be a Dreamweaver herself, but first she must explore her own dreams and learn to heal.

Each of her dreams is set in a room that represents important memories of her life. Linh is forced to take on a challenging task: facing her past. Through exploring each room and figuring out the puzzles, the player will learn more about Linh’s life and her relationship with her late girlfriend.

Inspiration:

We took inspiration from all sorts of media. Games like “To the Moon” helped us incorporate the theme of loss, “Florence” helped us create the game’s art style, but the biggest inspiration came from our lives. As a team, we wanted to address the issues surrounding LGBTQ+ and mental health issues—things that are hard to confront. We sought to create a game where players would finish the game and feel seen.

At its core, Veiled Memories is more than just a game. It beckons players to reflect on themselves, to confront their past, and to embrace their own individuality.
